Borders & carnets
Pick a country for its entry requirements, vehicle import and carnet rules, travel guides and the rider forum where people post fresh crossing reports. Rules change often — always confirm with the official source before you ride.
Carnet basics. A Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) is a customs document that lets you temporarily import your vehicle without paying duty. No country in the Americas requires one — Mexico and Central America use temporary import permits instead. Residents of the US and Canada get carnets from Boomerang Carnets. India, Australia and the Southern African Customs Union require one for foreign vehicles.
